Busy Builders

Building has always been popular here at Uxbridge and with our exploration of our interest in 'every job matters' we added a new piece of equipment to our building site.  Our new crane has been a big hit and our busy little builders have been developing some new skills and are on their way to becoming expert crane operators.  Loading up bricks and wood onto the lifting platform we have been learning about concepts of weight (light and heavy) and how to distrubute this weight to balance the lifting platform and successfully lift and move our building materials.  The new crane takes lots of hand/eye co-ordination to crank the handle, manoeuvre the load backwards and forwards as well as spin it round in different directions.
Our new crane has inspired much collaboration, we have been working together on the building site, taking turns, sharing ideas and together some of us even built new machines from loose parts.  We can't wait to see what our busy builders get up to next!
