The Olympic games, 2024! There has been much talk around the games, where it is being held, the types of sports competing, what it means to be an Olympic Athlete, different medals that can be won and we have been sharing our favourite sports and highlights that we have been watching on the tv with our whanau.
Over the week we had a couple of sports comps of our own. The egg and spoon, sack race and Isla kindly brought in her horse to race our very own Princess Long ago. The calibre of the contestants was high, it was going to be tough competition. The athletes used a combination of skills , strength, flexibility, speed, agility, body strength, balance and endurance to help them take on the challenge of each sport. It was great to see the willingness to participate and how everyone got into the spirit of the games. It was also wonderful to see such sportsmanship as we supported and cheered for one another, clapping and shouting out words of encouragement. Well done Uxbridge children for participating and having a go!!
