How exciting to have a real police officer visit Uxbridge! We all sat down on the mat, rather memerized as he spoke to us about how the police can help us when we are scared or lost, the importance of wearing our seat belts, and telling our mum and dad not to speed while driving, or using their phone! We were also reminded that if we hear ANY siren while driving, whether it's the police, fire brigade, or ambulance, we need to move out of the way and let them get past fast! Children got to ask questions, and as you can imagine, they wanted to know about catching baddies and putting them in jail! Constable Craig showed us his uniform and his equipment (walkie talkie radio, handcuffs, keys, torch, and police badge in his wallet) The highlight was walking to the car, seeing the flashing lights and hearing the siren. It was really loud!!! Nobody got a fright, we got lots of warning and covered our ears. Each child who attented today will get a picture of themself standing beside the police car (we will put it in their portfolio) It was cool to have our community constable come for a visit. ! Our children have been very interested in different types of jobs, so it was perfect that Constable Craig accepted our invitation to come and share about his job.
