Halloween Celebrations

What a spooktacular day we have had here.

We have had bat and ghost art.

A ginormous spider web!

A dark room which was turned into a showroom where we all took turns to be on stage and have a puppet show! There were cackles and roars of delight as the tamariki shared in each others humour. What a wonderful time we all had.

A hunt for pretend worms around the garden!

Fun stories fit for halloween.

And lunch with pumpkins to top it off!

We certainly made the most of the fun at Uxbridge!

The Dinosaur Kindy

The dinosaurs were out in full force at the Dinosaur Kindy. First we had them at the cafe and the wind began to blow! We needed to find a space where our baby dinosaurs could be safe and that led us to the deck.

We got creative with the interlock block and made an enclosure for all the baby dinosaurs.

There were ramps for them to climb up. Spaces to wash their... hands? or feet!
A mat for mat time and special beds for our little dinosaur babies.
Such great collaboration between our friends and it made for a fun game.

The Race Car

Check out the super fast race car some of friends made! They came up with this idea themselves and all worked together as a team to get the construction completed. Then they had lots of fun using their imaginations to zoom around different places in their neat car!

Just by constructing with some blocks or planks our imagination leads us to so many different ideas? I wonder what things you have been building at home?

Fizzy trays

Oh how we love a fizzy tray... This is always a popular request.
Its so fun and easy to do at home too.
Just baking soda in a tray and coloured vinegar.
You can use spoons or different utensils to get the vinegar on - we use pipettes which are a really neat skill to master and are great for our fine motor skills and strengthening the muscles in our fingers which need to be strong before we can start to master tasks like writing.

Creating chemical reactions creates lots of wonderful ideas as you can discuss Why? and How? as you make predictions and observations as you play.
I wonder what other chemical reactions you can up with??

Caring for our worm farm

It's been great to have some of our friends back at Uxbridge and they have been great Kaitiaki of our Kindy. Helping to keep the playground looking nice by raking and sweeping it. We also have been very responsible in helping to make sure our worms are well fed and looked after. Thanks guys - the worms really appreciate the variety of food you have been preparing for them. I wonder how much worm tea we have made so far for our garden??
