Teddy Bear's Picnic

If you go down to the woods today, be sure of a big surprise, if you go down to the woods today you'd better go in disguise...for every bear that ever there was will gather here together because today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic!!!

Today was full of excitement...we went on a special hunt around to find the hidden teddies and friends, they were hiding in the tress and in high places so this was a fun challenge.
We made our own sandwiches and fruit kebabs for lunch with some yummy and interesting combinations of sandwiches created.

We had so many picnics with tea sets and swung in the hammock, and had endless teddy games and stories...

and at 6 'clock their mummies and daddies will take them home to bed because their tired little teddy bears!!!

The Spiderweb

Today we made a spiderweb on the swing frame. This is a great new way to test our climbing skills! There were also  lots of wonderful imagination filled conversations about what it might be like to be spider or to live in a spiderweb.

Valentines 2019

We Celebrated Valentines Day with lots of red and Pink and hearts. We talked about the people that we loved and how it is great to tell them how we feel.

It's Friday...Let's party!!

Last Friday the children were busy setting up the table in the family corner with our pretend food. "Let's have a party"suggested Wolfgang. Lots of friends through this was a brilliant idea.
I asked the children..."What do we need for party?"...the children used their prior knowledge to make fabulous suggestions for our party...
*Party hats   *Games   *Balloons   *A sign   *Balloons on the gate so everyone knows   *Food   *Dancing   *Rock'n'Roll   *Invitations
So we set about making invites and a sign and putting up Balloons. At Mat time we played party games and enjoyed some dancing. We loved playing pass the parcel and Louie was our winner of Musical Statues. What a great idea Wolfgang...Friday is a great excuse for a party!

Smoothies

Last year the children had a keen interest in juicing. We decided to start this back up again this year. One of the children suggested we made smoothies so on Friday that is what we did. We made Banana, Blueberry and Kale smoothies (Kale from our garden). The children loved this process of peeling, cutting, adding, and blending. The blender was a bit different from the juicer and we discussed how the sharp blades at the bottom cut our ingredients up, we added some water to make it smooth. The best part was trying the smoothing which got a big thumbs up from most of us!! YUMMY!!!

Bush walk

We are super lucky to be surrounded by such a beautiful bush full of native NZ trees and birds. The tamariki enjoyed a walk through the bush on Thursday afternoon. It is so peaceful to be able to see, touch, smell and hear the sounds of nature around us!

A feast for Chinese New Year

Today we had a yummy feast to celebrate Chinese New Year. Like with most cultural celebrations it is tradition to celebrate Chinese New Year by sharing food together. We made some noodles with vegetables and even harvested a Marrow from our garden. We used a spiralizer to cut the marrow into noodles to add to our yummy dish.
The children loved trying the noodles and using chopsticks.
