Father's Day Breakfast

Father's Day 2022 was like no other at Uxbirdge. This year we held our first ever Father's Day breakfast. Our Dad's, Grandad's, and other special people all joined us to play, construct, build, chat and have fun at Kindy together. And of course we enjoyed a yummy breakfast together. The feast included, Bacon, Hash browns, Fresh Bread Rolls, Waffle's, Pancakes, fruit, syrup and muffins. Delicious! What a fun morning had by all. Happy Father's Day to all of our wonderful dad's and Grand Dad's.

Special Visitors

We have been super lucky to have two amazing guitar players come into the Centre and play to the children.

First up was Marley's Poppa John, what a super surprise! He gave us a real concert at mat time.
The children absolutely loved having him in. He played some songs that we knew and could sing along to.
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and The Alphabet song. We also sang Baa Baa Black Sheep and one of Marley's favourite songs, click on the link and have a sing along!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLq9xGxFGnQ

John received some super Uxbridge claps for his efforts! We thank you so much John for brightening up our days with music and the smiles that you gave the children were priceless!

Our next musician that came in was Devin , Teacher Jo's nephew. He brought in his guitar and played it for some of our tamariki and they thought it was really cool seeing a child play songs that he enjoyed. He played to smaller groups, upstairs, outside and on the mat. Thanks for taking the time before school to show us your guitar skills Devin!!

Thanks  to everyone who brought in a gold coin - this has been donated to the Cancer Society.

Zooming in our Uxbridge Cars

Last week Jo and the tamariki made some super fast cars with rainbow paint jobs!
Today we figured out how we could attach them to our bodies and then...you guessed it, the children enjoyed zooming around the Centre in them! We even used plates as a steering wheel. Here they are in action. BBBBBRrrrrrRRRRmmmm what loud noises our cars made!

A parcel in the post!

How exciting it was this afternoon when a package arrived!

It was rather large...was it a hippo sent to Uxbridge? NO
Was it a rocket? NO

Inside were two new tyre swings!
Well we spent the afternoon hanging about, trying them out!
Don't they look spectacular. It is a big thanks to our Uxbridge community who help by fundraising so we are able to make these wonderful purchases for our tamariki to enjoy on their days here!

Food bank

For the month of August we have been collecting for a local food bank - teaching the tamariki how we can help out in the community and give to those who have less than ourselves. Also teaching that if we all do a small amount it can become a lot!

Thank you to everyone who contributed - what a fantastic result and the All Saints church on Selwyn road in Howick are so so grateful to be a be able to provide this to some local families.
