Diwali Celebration

Today we celebrated Diwali at Uxbridge. Diwali is a the Festival of Lights which is celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jain's across the world. This Festival celebrates new beginnings and the triumph of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. Traditional festivities include the lighting and display of special lamps called diyas, lighting of fireworks and making rangoli patterns. People also celebrate by dressing up in their finest clothes. This year at Uxbridge we also celebrated by dressing up. We decorated, made our own diyas and rangoli patterns, had some henna designs drawn on our hands and prepared some chicken biryani for a Diwali feast. We also shared the story of Diwali and talked about how people celebrate this special festival around the world.

Slime

With so much fun being had on Rainbow day we decided to have a little more fun by adding slime to the mix. The challenge was to walk across the slime, testing our balance and coordination. There was a few slips but that just added to the fun and some our friends turned into little green monsters by the end.
