Pine cone xmas tree's!!

Design your own costume!!

Our busy little Uxbridge designers have been so creative with their very own costume made from an item of clothing.
They have had lots of brightly coloured resources to stick on with various different textures using the glue guns.  Some have decided to paint onto their garment, stick stickers, feathers and bottle caps with the results often looking like a brought one!  Who knows - maybe we have a budding fashion designer in our midst......
Everyone felt so proud once they had finished their item, some deciding to wear them straight away.

Well done everyone!

Watching our butterflies hatch!!

What an exciting morning at Uxbridge!!  Devin brought in his chrysalis's from home for us to see and they were very close to hatching.  We all gathered around to get a closer look and we noticed the cocoons were a dark black but we could see the shape and pattern of the butterflies wings inside.  It wasn't going to be long now!!  As we waited in anticipation, the first began to hatch, as it broke out from the cocoon, it's wings were rather small but as it began to dry out and stretch it's wings, they became larger and stronger, until it was ready to fly away.  It is always so amazing to watch such a special act of nature and talk with the children about the process, what a wonderful learning experience, thanks for sharing it with us Devin.

Tis the season....

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there!!

We have been re-creating our own christmas scene over the last couple of weeks, putting up the christmas tree, building and painting our fire-place and mantel, hanging stockings above , making a wreath and lots of  different festive decorations.  The children have enjoyed being a part of this in the build up to christmas and using their creative skills to help create an amazing homely feel.  We even had some santa's delivering presents under the tree in our sleigh we built!
