Matariki 2017

We made these lovely Korowai cloaks using sticky pva glue and feathers.  They were very colourful and we had quite a few laughs getting the sticky feathers off our hands.
Threading the paper strips into our stars was quite challenging.  This was a great exercise in both patience and developing our fine motor skills.

The Seven Stars of Matariki shine brightly in our night sky amongst all our other stars.

We had many different sponge patterns to choose from to decorate our lanterns

Scissor skills were put to use to cut the cellophane for our Matariki kite

The size of our cellophane pieces were important points of discussion.  We had enormous pieces, big pieces,  small pieces, tiny pieces, long pieces and wide pieces

Our colourful cellophane was cut or ripped to our desired size.

Learning to use the scissors to carefully cut the cellophane.
Here is our finished Matariki kite.
