Christmas Ephemeral Art

Today we set up a provocation with the concept of using different resources to create a Christmas tree—this is often referred to as ephemeral art.  Ephemeral art refers to an art form where an artist uses resources  to create original pieces of art that is temporary.  The materials we used were carefully chosen for their colour, texture, shape and variety and was displayed in an enticing manner which invited the tamariki to come and discover, manipulate and create.  As we talked about what our Christmas trees at home might look like this year, we tinkered and played around with the materials to create and style our very own Christmas tree's.  Due to its nature, ephemeral art is not collected so we took some photo's to capture our work

There was lot's of careful consideration and thoughtfulness as to where our decorations might go.......

“I am going to have a big bow at the top and beads and pom poms” Mackenzie said with a smile.

Everyone was super proud of their creations.    Mahi pai tamariki ma, great work!
