We look at what it means to be a character in a play, what an audience does, what a narrator does and how we can preform on a stage and take a bow at the end. What a fun experience for everyone! -will continue to look at putting on more plays and puppet shows.

The three little Pigs
At Mat time we had Puppet show. Some of our friends helped to hold the puppets and do the voices and we all helped with the words and the huff and puff of the big bad wolf.

Beautiful Blooms
The florist area proved to be a great hit outside today.
The children enjoyed choosing their own flowers, picking wrapping paper and choosing a recipient to give them too. Money was exchanged, pretend grannies were visited with birthday flowers, blooms were brightening up everyone's day.

Mrs Wishy Washy
Waiting their turn to roll in the mud!
Rolling around in the mud! Cheeky animals.
In the tub!
We loved listening to the way the different animals changed their voices to match the animals!
Poor Mrs Wishy Washy had just finished cleaning all of her farm animals when they jumped right back in again! "Oh lovely mud!" They said.
Here is the story being read on YouTube-

Who Sank the Boat?
Who sank the boat? Was it the cow who made a din, the donkey who balanced her weight, the pig as fat as butter the sheep who knew where to sit so she could knit or the little mouse the last of all to get in. We decided to explore this story looking at the characters, making and finding props and costumes and acting it out at mat time.
Sharing the story

This is the cow who almost fell in when she tilted the boat and made such a din

This is the sheep who knew where to sit to level the boat so that she could knit

Visit to Kings Plant Barn
Matariki is on the way and as one of the traditions of the Maori people to celebrate this festival was to work in their gardens we have made it a tradition here at Uxbridge to celebrate our garden as part of our Matariki festivities too. This is a great way to not only celebrate Matariki but to also acknowledge our kaitiaki especially Paptuanuku (Earth Mother) and Rongo (Kaitiaki of agriculture). This year our garden was very bare due to lock down so we decided to take a trip with a small group of our four year old tamariki to Kings Plant barn to choose some plants and flowers for our garden.

Leo's Pirate day
Our friend Leo suggested we had a Pirate day... Arrrr! ...what a wonderful idea me hearty.
Everyone got dressed up into Pirate costumes and played in the various Pirate ships that had sailed into the sandy Uxbridge shores.... some of us were even brave enough to walk the plank.
There was treasure to be found, telescopes and flags to be made and Pirate games and songs to be enjoyed, and at lunch we had a bowl of jelly to fill our belly.....
Shiver me timbers...what a fun Pirate day we had. Yo ho ho.
