Matariki is on the way and as one of the traditions of the Maori people to celebrate this festival was to work in their gardens we have made it a tradition here at Uxbridge to celebrate our garden as part of our Matariki festivities too. This is a great way to not only celebrate Matariki but to also acknowledge our kaitiaki especially Paptuanuku (Earth Mother) and Rongo (Kaitiaki of agriculture). This year our garden was very bare due to lock down so we decided to take a trip with a small group of our four year old tamariki to Kings Plant barn to choose some plants and flowers for our garden.
Wow what a good idea. I will have to check out the veg. garden next time I'm there. Grammy.
