Watching it back!

We recorded a video of the tamariki doing roly Poly's on the crash mat.  First Kaiako Haley demonstrated how to do one before each child lined up for a turn.  This was a new way to move our body for many of the tamariki.

Before the video Taylor could not get her body over.  She watched her friends in the video and saw how she was holding her body different.  Her first attempt after the video she got over with a big smile.

After watching the video everyone had another turn.  There was a vast improvement in the way the tamariki performed this tricky manouvere.  Every child got their body over by changing the position of their head and legs.  We will continue to use video recording around the playground to learn more about how our bodies move.

Together we sat and watched the video of everyone's attempt.  Some children could already master this move while some could not get their body over or went sideways.  Watching the video gave them the opportunity to see the position of their heads and legs and of their friends.

This use of technology showed the tamariki a new way to get our bodies with digital technology and how we can use it as a fun tool in our learning while being active.
