Balancing bodies

We need body control and automated movements to be able to access the thinking part of our brains. Our brains prioritise movement actions over thinking actions. Balance and coordination are movements we need to master over time.

Balance underpins virtually everything we do. It provides us the stability we need for everyday tasks. It is governed by our vestibular system, our internal sense of what feels in and out of balance (Connell, Pirre & McCarthy, 2016).

We have lost of opportunities at Uxbridge to master the skill of being in balance and using our brains to tell our muscles and limbs how to maneuver our body in, under, over and around things. The more we practice these skills and are exposed to opportunities to balance our bodies  the more automated these movements become.
