One of our beloved Apple snails passed away. The tamariki have always been so great at helping to care for our pets and the snails have been no different. We were gifted these snails when they were about 3 years old and they do have a life span of 4 or 5 years so thanks fully Gary lived to a nice old age and had a good life with his beloved Mary.
In usual tradition and to show the upmost respect to our pet we held a burial where he went to be with Papatuanuku (The earth) in the same resting site as or other foggy and axolotl friends.
The children all picked beautiful flowers and leaves to give to our Gary and we listened to a beautiful song while the ceremony was going on.
Farewell e hoa ma - thanks for being such an interesting pet for us to look at and care for.
