The Little Kiwi's Matariki
At Uxbridge we love this story and our art work for the day was inspired by this beautiful pukapuka (book).
The story tells the tale of the little kiwi who is woken by a beam of moonlight. Realising its significance she alerts other forest creatures, weka, ruru, tui and katipo, to the arrival of Matariki, the star cluster that heralds the start of the Maori New Year.
The children used black paper, with different paint brushes and colours as well as some googly eyes.
