Fathers Day 2024!!

What a wonderful morning we had at kindy for our very special fathers day breakfast!

We had so much fun celebrating with our daddy's, grandpas and other special people.  Everyone enjoyed a yummy breakfast of bacon buns, hash browns, waffles, apple muffins, fruit and mini pancakes.  We had lots of fun activities such as building, lego, car painting, a fun photo booth and we even surprised our daddy's and grandpas with a special song for them that we have been practicing.  What a fantastic morning we all had!

Being a bucket filler!

We have been following a wonderful story here at Kindy called Have you Filled a Bucket Today? Written by Carol McCloud.

This story is a guide to daily happiness for kids. It shares ideas on everyone having an invisible bucket that they carry with them and that we can fill each other's buckets by doing  and saying kind things to one another. In turn we can empty someone's bucket by being unkind to them.
The tamariki are gaining a really great understanding of this bucket filling philosophy and many are very conscience of how they can be filling each others buckets.

We have a special bucket now on the window inside and when we see people doing exceptional bucket filling they get to put a token in the bucket. It is fun to see the bucket starting to fill up. Our aim is to fill the entire bucket and we will have a celebration day to reward all our bucket filling at the end.

Here are some of the things our children said they can do to fill someone's bucket

"I would give some help" - Charlotte
"I turned the tap on" - Sophia
"I could play with someone" - Mia
"I can help people and be kind to people" - Frank
"I can say sorry and give them an icepack" - Chloe P
"I can help someone close their lunch box" - Phoebe

paper mache volcanic eruption

Our children participated in a collaborative project to create a paper mache mountain for a volcanic eruption demonstration. The project progressed through various stages, beginning with building the mountain's structure and then adding layers of paper to form its shape. Once the mountain was dry, the children painted it, bringing it to life with vibrant coloures. By engaging in this long-term project, different groups of children had the opportunity to contribute, developing their own interests and curiosities while utilizing their unique strengths. With their existing enthusiasm for volcanic eruptions, which they explored in the sandpit, they could experience the phenomenon in a new form. This volcanic project engages four primary senses (smell, touch, sight, and hearing), allowing children to learn about chemical reactions and develop working theories about how things work.
