The gifting station

Chi brought in a box of items for kindy.  We talked about how it made us feel to receive a box of beautiful toys and what a kind act that was. We thought about times where we have gifted things to our friends and whānau. Sometimes we give gifts for birthdays, sometimes we give cards to friends- just because and sometimes when people are sick we give gifts! We also talked about how the person receives the gifts... What do they normally say? Do they smile? Do they feel appreciated?   Zac suggested that we should say thank you when we receive a gift.  Which prompted Gemma's idea to make Chi a thank you present for bringing in a box of goodies for us.  Then the gifting station was born. Many of our friends thought it would be a great idea to make gifts for our friends so with that, we redesigned our glue gun station.

Gemma let the group know that she " feels precious" when she receives gifts.

Eliza and Marley hold special gifts that were created with the intent to show appreciation to their parents.

Here are some elaborate gifts that our tamariki have made for others. They each have a thoughtful reason behind the gift. I'm sure the recipients will love them!

It's is important for our children to learn the social skills behind giving and receiving gifts so that when our friends make beautiful gifts for us we know how to show our kind manners to each other and continue this outside of kindy.
