Piiti in our garden!

When we returned to kindy after our summer holiday we noticed our overgrown garden! It was time to harvest our piiti ( beetroot).  We found small ones and big ones. One we named Jessie after Frank's new baby sister as it was teeny tiny, just like her!

Frank found a nui (big)one.

Rylee pulls one out- what size will it be?

This has got Everly interested!

After that we gave the piiti 'haircuts' or more like leaf cuts. Using our scissor skills we trimmed the tops to make them look the same as the beetroot at the supermarket.

Then, we lay them all into a basket as an offering to our whānau to take home and cook.

Did anyone try them in a salad, roasted or boiled? We would love to know.
