A visit from St Johns Amulance!!

As part of our links to the community, we were very lucky to have Sue come to to visit us with Ambi the Ambulance. It was much fun to see them both, and learn about what St Johns /Hato Hone do for us as a community.

We learnt about the different equipment in the ambulance such as the stretcher, and the oxygen masks.  We heard 5 different types of sirens!  Some of our tamariki got to dress up and wear some of the special clothes and when Sue asked what we did when we are driving and hear a siren, we learnt that we have to tell our drivers to 'move out of the way'.

We learnt what and when to use the emergency number and the critical role as a paramedic and ambulance is in an emergency,  The children were given scenarios and they had to choose which emergency department we needed, fire, police or ambulance.  We even learnt the sign for ambulance in (NZ sign language) which was very cool.  We all got into pairs and had a go at bandaging our arm or leg, what a great opportunity for our Tamariki.
