Welcome Freddy

We have a new friend at Uxbridge,  Freddy the baby chicken. Freddy came into Uxbridge when Nikki found him/her all alone in the middle of her flock of chicken's with no mother hen in sight. She decided that as Freddy was all alone the tamariki at Uxbridge might like to help take care of him/her.  We are not sure if Freddy is a boy or a girl yet as he/she is a pure bred  Plymouth barred rock and boys and girls look similar when they are little. Freddy is fluffy and black instead of yellow or gold like the chicks that we usually hatch.  This chick came to be called Freddy by ballot, all of the children and teachers came up with names that they liked and at bubble time one name was drawn out of the hat which was Freddy as suggested by Emma.

Toby is keeping Freddy company, lots of our friends have spent time watching and talking to her/him.

Taylor and Scottie thought that Freddy might like some music so they played the ukulele for him/her

Gemma was inspired to do some art, she created a chicken and made her chicken brown "This is a girl chicken" said Gemma.  This was great recall as when we hatch our chicks from living eggs the girls are golden brown and the boys are yellow.

Here is Freddy
