The beautiful harp..

The Beautiful Harp

Today  the children we able to sit and listen to our student teacher and her sister-in-law, play a medium and smaller sized  harp. Each harp had a different amount of strings which we heard all made different sounds.

We were so lucky that the music that was played was familiar to the children.

-Beauty and the Beast

-Moana

-Under the sea (Little Mermaid)

-Frozen (let it go)

The children were captivated by the beautiful sounds ringing through Uxbridge, as they hummed and swayed to the music.

Teacher Inspiration

 Our Amazing Student Teacher

We would like to give a huge shout out to our student teacher that has been with us at Uxbridge for the last month!.  What a month we have had.. Stacie inspired us all as Teachers as she led a huge art project making sure the children were involved all of the way.

It started out from observations that our mud kitchen is a bustling busy corner of our play ground where a lot of imaginative play is created together,  through making restaurants and cafes full of colorful concoctions always magically change as the children's imagination drives there play collaboratively.

Our Cafe needed a sign, and what a great opportunity for Stacie to share her artistic talent with us and the children.  We at Uxbridge always have the children at the centre of what we do.   The children were part of a team of designers for our new sign for our Cafe (mud kitchen).  The children collaborated together and were asked as to what needed to be on a cafe sign.  We started by the children drawing together on a large piece of card, and then a few children were interested in using Stacie's 'magic ipad' that made their pictures come to life, it was then time to print their ideas onto paper for Stacie paint.   It was really neat to use technology as another medium to explore.

Through children observing Stacie painting with their ideas, inspires them to ask questions, and explore their own artistic ability. The children would gather around and watch in amazement as their ideas came to life.

They can also see the importance of persistence, and the power of working together with others.

Now we can admire this art work everyday in our learning environment.

Teddy Bears Picnic

If you go down to the woods today, be sure of a big surprise, if you go down to the woods today, you'd better go in disguise...for every bear that ever there was, will gather here together because, today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic!!!

Wasn't today was full of excitement?  Everyone was 'beary' excited!!

We had teddy bear face paint, went on a teddy bear hunt, shared teddy stories and songs, we even made our own pizzas with our favourite toppings!  We sat and enjoyed these for lunch along with some teddy cookies, honey sandwiches and fruit. What a fun filled day :-)
