Our Uxbridge Cafe is always a popular place to hang out at Kindy. Today it was bustling first thing in the morning as the children explored with all the delightful colored water and shaving foam. There were chefs, coffee makers and customers and I could see that a few of you were quite familiar with the cafe scene. Throughout the morning there was opportunities for exploring literacy using the menu's and a lot of creativeness explored and some amazing master chef meals coming out of this kitchen. This learning moment let the children engaged in meaningful conversations, negotiating and problem solving to ensure everyone left this cafe with a smile and a full tummy.
Their cafe not only provided an opportunity for fun and laugher but also fostered important social skills, such as communication, team work and empathy. Again these wonderful moments captured the true sense of kotahitangi as well as tuakana teina at Uxbridge.
