Gruffalo adventures... in our Ngehere.
Our little explorers had an enchanting day in the bush as they immersed themselves in the magical world of The Gruffalo! They listened intently to the captivating tale of the Gruffalo, surrounded by the rustling leaves and the gentle whispers of the wind. Armed with baskets and fuelled by imagination, our explorers set out to collect the finest ingredients for their Gruffalo Crumble….. leaves, twigs, pebbles, crunchy nuts from the bush – the special ingredients needed for our Gruffalo crumble! Creating Gruffalo crumble using natural materials collected from the bush is not only a fun and imaginative activity but also connects the story to the real world, making the learning experience more meaningful. This hands-on approach encourages children to explore and interact with their environment, enhancing their understanding of nature and the narrative.
Back at our playdough table, the children brought the Gruffalo to life using vibrant playdough! Their imaginative skills flourished as they moulded and shaped their very own Gruffalo, each unique and full of character. This hands-on activity showcased their creativity, honed their fine motor skills, and provided a delightful sensory experience.
Going to visit the bush and reading one of the children's favourite stories let the imagination of the children come to life, as we had the 'hoot' of the owl, we found a gigantic log that the children thought they saw a snake. We also re visited our bug houses. The children heard the Gruffalo snoring, and the leaves crunching under foot, I wonder where this will lead, what other stories would be cool to read aloud in our Ngahere.
