Hatching Chicks 2024

What a lovely surprise we had today as some of the children arrived at the centre!

4 of our chickens hatched overnight but this wee one waited for the chidren.

Our tamariki are learning how to care for our chicks, how to use a quiet voice and soft feet upstairs. They have been reading books and having many discussions about how they crack out of the egg.

Art work is supporting this learning and we are sure you will be having some lovely conversations about our new Uxbridge babies at home!

First little pats as we move some of the baby chicks over to the brooder!

Here some of our tamariki set up the brooder and we talk about what chickens need to survive, food water a bed and love! Not to mention the little heat lamp as they don't have their mother hen's wings to keep them warm!
