Strange creatures afoot at Uxbridge!

What a week we have had!  We have had a visit from a weta - who Deanne and I had watched get stung twice by a wasp!  It slowly lost the the use of its legs however the next day it hadn't died like we thought it would.  It was still alive so we released it back into the wild and it happily wandered off.

The next visitor we had was a spider, it was quite large and Shi Ming's Dad told us it was a Large Brown Vagrant spider, native to New Zealand, nocturnal feeders and if it had a salmon colour on its front, it was a male.  Possibly he was out looking for a mate and he became lost at Uxbridge.

All five of our tadpoles have metamorphosed into frogs now too.  We have been feeding them the flies we catch and mealy worms.  I popped a preying mantis in their tank last week however it attacked the frogs so I removed him.

Our Axolotls are growing ever so big!  Beak, the brown one, is a little bit rough, especially when he is being fed his blood worms.  Pumpkin on the other hand, is slow and gentle.

Our last visitor for the week was Deanne's pet rat Splinter.  His colouring makes him look like a Panda when he sleeps.  Splinter is very inquisitive, he even made a huge hole in his bed that Nate believes is so he can look out at everybody!
