Maui and The Sun

We had a beautiful play at mat time today to the story Maui and the sun. Our tamariki did a fantastic job as they went on their adventure to catch the sun. There was a great struggle dance to music as Maui and his brothers managed to get the harakeke (flax) ropes around te ra.

We will continue to perform this story at mat time as it's a favourite traditional Maori legend around here and many of the children contributed towards the props and costumes for this. The harakeke flax was weaved here, the sun costume was tie-dyed by Hallie and Odette and the famous hook of Maui was cut out by Chloe. Ava G drew Te Ra's face on the costume.  It's great to work together and do the mahi for the greater good of the team. Thank you everyone for your contributions towards this.
