We have been discussing lots of emotions here at Kindy and the tamariki came up with lots of ideas on different emotions that they sometimes feel.
Happy Sad Scared Tired Angry Excited
We also discussed other emotions that we feel at times such as frustrated, proud, annoyed, silly, shy and nervous.
This led us to explore what someone might look like when we are feeling these different emotions and we had fun making the different facial expressions and body language that goes with the different emotions.
It is important to learn these cues and to also be aware that we all do feel these different emotions at times.
Maya feels excited and laughs when she jumps on the bed.
Chloe feels funny and like laughing when people do funny faces.
Sebastian feels happy when he goes on the slide.
Ava G feels angry when no one is sharing.
Chloe feels angry when people kick her sister.
Sidney feels scared when he is in the dark.
Chloe also gets scared of shadows in the dark.
Ted feels tired in the morning.
And Maya feels tired after a lot of running.
Some of friends feel sad when they get hurt or when someone gets angry at them .
It was great to hear how the children can recognise these different emotions and talk about them openly.
We also played a game where some of friends hid behind the wall and when they popped up we had to guess what emotion they were showing on their face.
