Exploring Animal Patterns

There has been a lot of animal play here of late and this week we took our animals into our art area!We had our spying eyes on to see if we could spot which animal pattern was what!

And if we could even paint our own patterns! Well of course we could and what fun it was exploring natures patterns!

Jack changed the zebra to a white zebra! How funny :)

Zoe started doing stripes and moved onto giraffe patterns.

Orange fur... I wonder what that animal could be Chloe?

Zoe was super proud of her giraffe pattern!

We noticed that we didn't have patterns on our bodies or even fur! Just hair.

Riya made a few patterns, striped like a.......

Charlotte decided to do spots first. She had yellow fur and her pattern was a ...CHEETAH!!

Whilst exploring this art, it opened up a lot of animal talk. Riya said that " Tigers have paws and we have hands. They roar."

Zoe told me that " Giraffes eat grass, it keeps them healthy."

Charlotte let us all know that " a cheetah is yellow." She followed this up with an interesting question to the group, " Why do Mummy cheetah's roar?"
What a question! Rylee knew just the answer, " They roar at people because they don't like people."

You can see how valuable it is to work alongside our friends, the tamariki have the opportunity to practice sharing and exploring their ideas, they can become confident at asking and answering questions in an small group environment! There was some super oral language development going on today!
