We used the super long rope to make ourselves a rope climb challenge extravaganza today. No two of our rope climbs are the same and today it proved quite challenging. It was enjoyed for absolutely ages – in fact the crowds were queueing up for their turn, despite the wide range of climbing abilities all that wanted to face the Rope Challenge, could face their fears and do it anyway.
One of the
reasons it is so difficult, is that as the next child joins, their weight
changes the position of the rope, which either lifts you up higher or brings
you down lower.
A climbing challenge like this is an excellent way to develop children’s hand-eye coordination while they play as they need to look for their next hand hold and where to place their feet.
An open-ended climbing activity like this, offers many other physical and mental benefits, such as building up their strength and working on their balance, spatial awareness and problem solving skills as they moved along the rope.
