Let's build a Rocket

We have been collecting big boxes for a few weeks and discussing plans on how we can build our own rocket.

So we have asked the children...."What would we need to build a Rocket?"

  • flames
  • a launch pad
  • a pointy top
  • circle windows
  • seats
  • food - if we are hungry
  • chambers
  • fuel tanks that drop away
  • a name for our rocket
  • controllers
  • a steering wheel to control the rocket

It was clear to us that the children have gained great knowledge on rockets and space and that they were ready for the job to be Rocket Scientists.

We had some great suggestion's for the name of our rocket and all decided that our Rocket would be called......Bubble Speed

Now a rocket cant be build in just one day so on Friday we started to design the body of the rocket... two big chambers were needed to make our rocket really tall. "We should make it blue" the children decided so we set about painting and decorating the chambers of our Rocket.........

Wolfgang checks out some designs for inspiration

Shaan helps choose which boxes will make our rocket really tall.

Freya thinks blue is a great colour for our rocket

Busy Rocket designer's

Blake concentrates hard....it's very serious business making a rocket

The group decides we need to decorate our rocket with stars

Glow in the dark stars are required as it's very dark in space.

What will we build next to add to our rocket?
