Crack the egg!!

To further extend our theories about the life of a baby chick, we decided to see what it feels like to hatch from an egg.  At Mat time volunteers were able to curl up tightly, before being wrapped in paper.  Once wrapped we would count down from 5 to 1 before our pretend chickens would hatch from their eggs.  It was a really fun game, which enabled tamariki to use their bodies for movement, as well as their minds to formulate a plan on the best way to hatch.  We used numeracy, problem solving, turn taking and confidence in performing in front of a group in this fun game.  It was hit, with tamariki asking for more turns after mat time!
