This morning Claudia came in with a very special wee friend who was still emerging from it's chrysalis.
Steve, her Dad had found the poor butterfly struggling, they carefully taped the chrysalis up so it was hanging as if it would be on it's own. We mimicked this on our swan plant at Kindy.
It sparked a morning of butterfly books, life cycle fun and of course art!
We painted caterpillars and carefully threaded pipe cleaners as antennae. Picked some eyes and some even had names.
After that, we talked about how they wriggle around in their chrysalis and emerge as butterflies!
So magical... so of course we had to make some of those too!
Luckily, we had a book on caterpillar and butterfly art so not only did the children do art, but together we read the steps on how to do it and some of our tamariki could even use the pictures to help them know what to do next!
Below are some photos of our morning.
