Setting up the worm farm!!

It was time to set up our worm farm ready for our new worms who had arrived. 

We brought the worm farm onto the deck so there was lots of room for everyone to watch and help.

It was super exciting to see the worms in their container - there were so many in one place.

Everyone had a good look at the worms although not everyone wanted to get too close. We were suprised to see how many different sizes of worms there were in the container from big long ones to very tiny ones.

First we set the worm farm up by making a bed for the worms. We did this by shredding newspaper  (everyone helped with this) and then adding straw.

Then we added compost and then the worms. We were very surprised with how quickly they wriggled their way down under the compost!

Finally we added a little bit of water just to make the worms more comfortable and then the farm was moved to its permanent home by the shed.
