At Uxbridge we are situated in such a cool part of Howick Village. We are trying to explore this more. This week we have encouraged our 4 year olds to become leaders during these excursions. These local walks are spontaneous, and we really are so lucky to have these opportunities.
R* who is nearly 5 is passionate about her writing and with the kaiako's support she wrote a card for the Uxbridge cafe, where our younger friends collaborated and decorated this. We kindly asked for some coffee bean granules for our vege garden which helps protects our beautiful vege plants from garden insects. The children had a real sense of pride, walking in the community and are always eager to be apart of this.
A few days later a different group of children ventured up to the cafe and introduced themselves and carefully carried the coffee bean granules back.
We are also very lucky to be able to have a look in the art gallery where the children can enjoy all the art works in a quiet space.
On the way home to the centre, we were invited to the art class where the lovely ladies, invited us to see their amazing art works they have been working on using glow and the dark paint. We cannot wait to see these art works progress.
