Kaitiaki of our Waka

We need to take pride in our centre by actively looking after our environment. Our wonderful Whaanau came and did a great tidy up job at our working bee. We talked about this today and how with everyone's help our centre looks great!

When we went over to the waka we noticed it had been missed in the clean up! That was no problem for the dream team who got straight to work.

We called it the "Waka Wash!" just like a car wash but for a waka!

We took turns to scrub, using our big muscles we did get a bit tired! We then had a problem...
There was a lot of sand and bark in the bottom of the waka so it was suggested that we scrape it out, put water in and continue cleaning!

That's exactly what we did. Taking pride in our place gives us a sense of belonging to a place.
