Over the past few weeks, we have observed that the children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the world of science and wonder. Their enthusiasm for baking has provided an excellent opportunity to engage with scientific concepts hands-on. While making banana muffins, we incorporated various elements of science learning, such as understanding chemical reactions—like how baking powder causes the muffins to rise—and discussing the changes in state from solid to liquid and back again. We also made predictions about what might happen to the ingredients when we placed the mixture in the oven.
