Te Kakano

We are so lucky to be surrounded by such a wonderful community. Each term the Uxbridge art and culture centre along with Te Whare Whanga o Matariki and the Howick Library are putting on a morning of activities. This time we took along the 4 year old's to explore what they had to offer which included a porwhiri onto the Marae. This is something our tamariki are becoming familiar with as we stand at the front as the hosts of the land and welcome other Early childhood education groups onto our community whenua. The tamariki enjoyed learning about vegetables, learning a new waiata, learning lots of new words in Te Reo for Maori language week and finished off with some stories about spring at the library.
